 Tina M. Barber
~
"MaShiloh"

It is hard to imagine that a single person could be responsible  for a creature as unique and beautiful as the Shiloh Shepherd but these dogs  in fact owe their existence to the vision and dedication of one woman – Tina  Barber or MaShiloh as she is perhaps better known.

It was Tina’s life-long dream to develop a breed of Shepherds  with size, strength and outstanding beauty complemented by a superior  intelligence. Tina dedicated over 40 years of her life to her breed and whilst  she is no longer with us, her presence is still strongly felt. Tina can be  found in every word of the breed standard, in the guidelines and rules of the  registry and in the strict breeding practices followed by the ISSR breeders  many of whom she personally mentored.

Tina’s story is told in depth in her book
“Against the Wind – A  breed is born”
It is a story of courage, vision and tenacity which highlights  the many triumphs and heartbreaks Tina experienced as she worked to develop
the Shiloh.

Tina’s legacy has passed to another generation
with her daughter Lisa fulfilling the role of breed warden for the ISSR. The breeders of  the ISSR are committed to carrying on Tina’s work bringing to fruition one woman's remarkable dream.

There is a wealth of history and information available about Tina and the development of the Shiloh, many of it written by Tina herself.
