Why Join the SSDCA?
There are many reasons to join the SSDCA, but the most important of these is that you will be joining a community of people dedicated to the Shiloh Shepherd dog. You will be welcomed and have the benefit of years of experience by the members raising their own Shilohs. Many have owned generations of this breed. Questions about your puppy just ask, someone in the group has stood in your shoes at some point. You will make lifelong friends. Owning a Shiloh comes with a community.If that were all you got with membership it would be a bargain...but there is more.
All people owned by a Shiloh Shepherd puppy get one free year of membership. After the year is up it is a $35 fee for the first year and each subsequent year is $25. This works out to about 7 cents a day. Worth every penny.
Every year we have a calendar contest. All SSDCA members are encouraged to submit pictures of their puppies or dogs. There is a vote and the winning pictures are in a calendar which is sold as a fundraiser. It is quite a thrill to see your dog on a calendar page! These calendars make great gifts.
SSDCA members get our newsletters. We have articles on dog topics such as health,nutrition and training. We announce upcoming events, shows and litters. Members are encouraged to update everyone on their pups and dogs. Pictures are sought after.
We have a facebook page for members only.You will be encouraged to join.
We have an information forum that you will be invited to join. Lots of information on those pages.
Discounts on show fees and the yearly calendar.
I know people often say I don’t want to show my dog.Most people think of shows as high pressured stress filled events. Not our shows! We cheer each other on and help each other out. If a member can’t run their own dogs someone is sure to volunteer. Forgot a leash someone will loan you one. Again a part of community. It does not matter if you win or come in last. What matters is you get a chance to meet up with other Shiloh owners and dogs.It is a great way to socialize your dog.
Joining and staying involved helps the breed and in the long run it benefits you too. We do health surveys and are always trying to improve the breed. By joining and staying involved you will help with those goals. Once you own a Shiloh there is a high probability you will get another. It is in your own best interest to help further this very special breed.
